… And this is the aftermath – both knees and ankles have significantly less skin now since she made some significant skin donations to the concrete gods.
Shayel was a party girl and Aliyah was a peppermint. They have 2 more shows tomorrow.
This is a good time to Aliyah. She spent a good 30 minutes at least organizing all the crayons, markers, pens and colored pencils on the living room floor.
This is our family tradition – to go up further into the mountains (about an hour drive up) and take family pictures surrounded by the amazing color of the aspens. Some years haven't worked out but for the most part, we've done it since Shayel was a baby. It's also a tradition to get a picture of David walking with the girls, it's always cool to see the growth from year to year.
Shayel and Aliyah started the 2010-11 school year yesterday (8/17). Shayel is in 3rd grade and aside from excited butterflies, was as cool as cool could be. Aliyah started kindergarten (half-day) and was spectacularly calm and completely ready. They both had a wonderful day. After school we went to our fav. Asian bistro for an early dinner then went to the toy store, ice cream shop and our fav. coffee shop. What a wonderful beginning to a new school year.
She also has a fun new haircut which is quite sleek and stylish but she's a bit self conscious about it (for now, I think she's getting used to it)
She’s got her own style for sure.
Those are halloween polka dot leggings by the way, and my shawl.
